The Radisson Blu Hotel occupies a building of classical architecture in Madrid from the beginning of the 20th Century. The property houses four floors in which 48 rooms and six suites are distributed. Its interior maintains some of the elements of the original building, such as the stairs and elevator. Common sense has led to the development of an interior design that expresses comfort, elegance, timelessness and well-being. It is a small hotel that desires to contribute something more than just a place to sleep, and one in which design becomes an ally to create a warm and comfortable atmosphere.
The rehabilitation process presented some surprises, but all of them have been resolved successfully. In this case, the heritage protection of the hall and inner courtyard have been the starting point of such rehabilitation.
The use of stone materials on the flooring and wainscot, combined with vertical glass Parsol finish, backlit through circular fluorescent lights, creates an image of great personality, turning this patio of lights into a magical place. In it, everything is multiplied, modified, transformed.
In the restaurant and bar spaces, the materials become warm. The use of wood in the flooring and tapestries of different textures and red tones help to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The lighting is resolved through fluorescence, backlighting a metal grid, and with halogen light in seating areas.
The Spa is located in the basement of the building. In this space, pure lines abound, with a certain oriental air and the use of natural materials. The distinctive feature of small windows at the base of the building allows the windows to flare, resulting in an excellent relationship with the exterior. Here, the chosen color is beige. The internally lit swimming pool acts as a great lantern, flooding the space with warm light.
Natural colors have also been used in the bedrooms. As a detail, they each have a large photographic mural with emblematic buildings of the city that welcomes the visitor; this serves as a headboard and as a front for the wardrobe and bar furniture.
