Donner Sorcinelli Architecture 设计，位于阿富汗喀布尔。阿富汗的大峡谷以及传统的伊斯兰庭院被展现在设计中，历史文化得到延伸和保护。
The project involved identifying landscape figures and settlement matrices in the urban texture capable of interpreting the history of these places in a contemporary manner.
Using these models, the “canyon” figure creates a break in the elementary solid mass of the whole new building. This fracture is concentrated enough to penetrate not only the museum volume but also the project area, incorporating, and therefore reconnecting, a link with the site’s two major morphological features (mountains and urban fabric).
By this way the ‘Canyon‘ concept not only refers to the Afghan Grand Canyon but also to traditional islamic courtyard as part of the simple rectangular figures of the local existing buildings.
For this reason, the figurative result is the direct consequence of mixing vernacular habits with natural landscape, integral to local traditions of constructing.
These features are re-proposed in a new way through the idea of discovering the Museum and its treasures by the visitors so, the break inside the building mass is the opportunity to come deeply inside the historical cultural heritage.
The new sign will communicate the dynamics, the majesty and symbolism of the existing landscape.
This figurative superimposition will give the area’s future users a direct and continuous awareness of nature in the deep sense envisaged by Afghan tradition.
