This project offers a new type of flexibility, individual, born on a personal level, opposing the conventional modern universal space, developing a new concept associated to the ways of living of the digital era: Ubiquitous space.

Integrating the theory of ubiquitous computing –Ubicom- by M. Weiser together with the ideas of liquid modernity developed by Z. Bauman, we propose that flexibility is what the individual makes with of space, implementing uses and mapping the empty spaces to share.

For this we offer the concept of ubiquitous plan as an opposite to the typical modern open plan, through an homogeneous system of equal spaces, of continuous metrics, totally non-differentiated.

A place where the hierarchy of interior links between the items is abolished, thus allowing all zones to be anything depending on the needs, orientation and season of the year.

Defined by a system of 3x3x3 m cells comprising the structure at their corners, flexibility is gained thanks to a diffuse structure that becomes an assembly and division component.

The cell will host any use, free standing and/or added to others. Rotational migration of uses and double paths mean that, in the same topological scheme, several internal distributions can be found.

The building is a horizontal street-courtyard. A perforated sponge, a structural matrix where to locate the houses as detached pieces, creating raised street-squares full of passages and cross ventilations.

We propose hybridizing the section to get a wider variety of uses, social types, schedules and ways of life linking. The idea is that each cell can be a house, services or stores.

Three concentric sides of private levels are defined: the exterior, for private use of the dwelling; the intermediate, for community uses; and the interior, public, where the services cells are developed.

The technical systems that the new CTE requires are incorporated to the spatial concept. A new structuring system of vertical facilities doorways mark the structure of the building.

The 80 cm module allows defining screens and modular prefabricated “lo-tech” elements, thus transforming and personalizing the house and building image to the inhabitant’s taste.
