以下是设计事务所提供的项目简介:

Our design for Taiwan Hakka Culture centre was inspired by the nature topography of Muilai Ton Lou mountain area and traditional Hakka social structure. The Hakka civilization has been strong adaptation to the new land at the same time balancing with nature.

Design approach emphasis in the strong relationship between the museum and existing nature landscape topography. Clustering museums gives an opportunity to intersect the nature landscape elements in between to create more intimate nature approach for the visitors. Blurring the boundary between in both artificial walls and nature, through a series of differentiated cladding component. The façade creates dappled light, animated space, while nature light control is crucial to comfort the exhibition space and other functions spaces.

In our studies and research for the Hakka social formation we questioned the appropriateness of the museum as the architectural response to a brief for a unique way of visiting a museum. Our conclusions centred around the natural references of the place, the recreation of vernacular without pastiche, that was complimentary to a modern architecture responding to the demands of the 21st century. Our studies also identified the social formation in which those traditional Toulou geometry has developed has a direct impact on the way that building were formed, and how the building responded to the local climate.
