This Bush Interiors project is a ground up 5,000 square foot glass, steel, redwood and stone modern house set in the foothills of La Canada Flintridge, California. The house was based on its mid century predecessor which was in poor condition and fell apart over time. The owners loved the original house so much that they spent six years creating an homage to the original but with major aesthetic and technological improvements. Jamie Bush & Co. worked with the firm Osborn Architects (http://www.osborn320.com/) on the house and Katherine Spitz and Associates (http://www.katherinespitzassociates.com/index.swf) on the landscape design. The photographer is Laura Hull.
The owners of the residence are Mark and Andrea Meyerhofer. They live there with their son Chris, who just graduated high school, while their other son, Kurt, is away at college. Mark is the Chief Technology Officer and company founder of FutureLogic, Inc. which is an electronics company that makes printing devices worldwide. http://www.futurelogic-inc.com/
Mark and Andrea wanted to fill the house with significant modern pieces of furnishings. Such pieces include the museum quality Espenet dining table and vintage Finn Juhl dining chairs, as well as fine custom rugs by Christopher Farr and lighting by Ralph Pucci.
